    PTFE non-stick coating

Group of chemical materials used for non-stick coatings with different brand names and qualities (e.g. Silverstone®, Teflon® etc.).

The quality of the base coating layer and composition of the material to be coated are the determining factors. The base layer generally fits better on aluminium than stainless steel.

Non-stick properties and scratch resistance are incompatible.
Good durability requires careful teatment of the non-stick coating.
Can be used at temperatures up to approx. +220°C.

From +280°C upward the non-stick layer will be irreversibly damaged, therefore never overheat pans even for a short while.

Wooden or steel utensils must not be used on non-stick layers: use soft nylon turners only.
